About the Class

Step into the world of digital media and journalism. Students will learn a variety of skills in this engaging hands-on experience. Using the latest software, students will conduct interviews with community senior citizens, create a video and editorial to be published our website and social media pages. Students will also create end of the year class video and other marketing materials. They will learn how to use media supplies like mics, cameras, and other media related items. They will learn communication skills, writing skills and interpersonal skills.

Students will learn:
Writing: Learn how to write news, scripts, and other types of content
​Reporting: Learn how to report on news and other current events
Multimedia: Learn how to use cameras, recording equipment, and editing software to produce multimedia content
Media ethics: Learn about media ethics and how to report on information in a nonbiased way
Critical thinking: Learn how to use critical thinking to evaluate the reliability of information

  • Tablet or phone or laptop (We do have some available for students who need one, limited supplies, contact us to request)
